The Face of Apophenia

2017

The Face of Apophenia deals with the evolutionary patterns of the human brain. The work considers our perspective on the subject, and how we understand what we know. What do we rely on when we can no longer trust our own experience? Apophenia (the tendency to perceive meaningful connections between unrelated things) demonstrates at once both the fragility of perceptual reality and the power of our minds to make sense of the world in an extremely efficient manner. But is there a Kantian noumenal world that we fail to understand, or is our thinking reality itself?
