Condensation

2022
Ceramic pipes arranged in the corner of a room. Four of the pipes have small black electronic devices attached with thin wires running from them.

Exhibited in Waving at the Kunstverein für den Rhein-Sieg-Kreis e.V. and later re-installed for next_generation 9.0 at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medien.

Condensation tells the story of the history of water in the space. A memory, which consolidates the sonic environment with the architectural remnants of a pumping station, not explicitly, rather hazily and in the periphery. A myth, which depicts a fragile relationship and a power struggle.

The material of the pipes is used to carry the sound, in the same way the material is used to carry water through our civic environment. It becomes an active participant in the act of storytelling, not only colouring the sound, but also adding its own sympathetic vibrations which contribute to the overall body of sound.
